Alexandra + Murray | Dumfries House

Every couple thinks differently when it comes to organising the best moment – The Wedding Day. While some plan to say the vows by the beach, others prefer a large gathering in an opulent hall. There are a few who prefer conducting their event at one elegant place. A place that reflects their choices, their wishes, and their love for each other.

This is what the beautiful couple, Alexandra and Murray, planned for their wedding day. The couple booked the beautiful stately home of the 18th Century, Dumfries House. The property was saved by the intervention of His Royal Highness, Prince Charles, Duke of Rothesay in 2007 and made available to the public 365 days a year with free entrance and parking. Dumfries House combines the neoclassical architecture of Robert Adam with the furniture of Thomas Chippendale and leading 18th-century Scottish cabinet makers. On 2nd April 2022, the couple gathered their family and friends for their memorable day. They seemed excited to see their loved ones get together after 2 years of being apart. Dumfries House looked spectacular as well on that day as it complemented the fantastic weather outside. This refreshing environment made the guest spend time outside the mansion and around the opulent stairway that lead to the beautiful venue. Alexandra and Murray met in June 2017 at an agriculture show just outside Edinburgh. Following a short exchange of words, friend requests were sent on Facebook later that night. The chatting continued until they finally met in the September of the same year for their first date. They met for drinks in Edinburgh on their first date, for a Mexican meal on the second date, and then in a comedy club for the third.

Advancements in the relationship began when the couple started going on vacations outside the country. Their first trip was to Italy which, according to Alex, was his favorite memory with Murray to date. Then they went to Rome, hired a car, and visited a few more countries like Tuscany and Venice.

These travels strengthened their relationship further which led the day they got married. It was fantastic working alongside Doug from NorthernAye Photography and meeting the celebrant, Barbara Campbell who was also a family member. Evan and his staff treated us so well.
